JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
Under direction of a Senior Civil Engineer, the incumbent is responsible to perform office civil engineering work related to the planning, design, and construction of both public works and private land development projects. The Civil Engineering Technician assists in the preparation of engineering drawings, construction plans, specifications, and performs project design requirement research for assigned projects. The Civil Engineering Technician is responsible to prepare a variety of engineering reports, studies, and technical documentation. The Civil Engineering Technician is responsible to establish and maintain friendly, professional relationships with project managers during course of work on a project and must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

1. Perform special projects upon request.
2. Monitor phone calls and e-mails and respond within 24 hours.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.

FORMAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, AND CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
Education : Bachelor’s degree with major course work in civil engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience : Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible engineering experience preferred.
Certifications and Licenses :
Required : None
Preferred : E.I.T
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed indoors in an office environment, with occasional work outdoors as site visits or field work is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Visual : Normal activity required daily for making color distinction, depth of sight, preparing / analyzing figures, computer use, and written records up to 8 hours per day.
Communication : Able to express thoughts and ideas in an accurate and understandable manner through verbal and written format with internal and external contacts up to 8 hours per day.
Hearing : Able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers and outside contacts up to 8 hours per day.
Movement : Ability to maneuver within an office setting and in a variety of locations up to 8 hours per day.
Fingering / Grasping / Holding : Have hand movement and finger dexterity to operate field equipment such as a data collector and office equipment such as a computer, fax, phone, and copier up to 8 hours per day.
Travel : Travel on public transportation, including but not limited to public airlines, may be required up to 10 percent of the time.
