Job Description

The Department of History, Philosophy, & Geography seeks applications from qualified candidates for a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment in Geography beginning in 2026. Area of specialization is open, but an ability to teach introductory U.S. and World Geography, along with Physical Geography, is required. The base teaching load at A&M-SA is 4 / 4. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.

Salary : Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Education and Experience :

Ph.D. required in Geography or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution by the time of appointment.

A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in geography.

University teaching experience commensurate with the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor.

Availability to teach in-person classes.

Preferred Education and Experience :

ArcGIS Experience.

Human and / or Urban Geography.

Physical Geography and Meteorology.

Ability to teach upper division Geography courses in the field of specialization.

Active research agenda in the field of specialization.

Approaches to teaching students from different backgrounds, including first-generation college students.
