Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Processor (Certified / Union payroll experience highly preferred) to join their client's team. This role requires a professional who is adept at navigating complex payroll systems and ensuring compliance with labor agreements and relevant laws. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining accurate payroll records and facilitating smooth payroll operations.
Responsibilities :
- Support compliance with labor agreements and applicable laws by accurately interpreting regulations related to pay, deductions, benefits, taxes, and documentation.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records to ensure data accuracy and timeliness.
- Handle specific payroll system setup tasks, such as updating statutory rates and recharge amounts at the start of the year.
- Assist with end-to-end payroll processing, including verification and reconciliation of payroll data such as hours worked, pay rates, deductions, and tax remittances.
- Generate and submit required payroll reports on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including ad hoc reporting as needed.
- Provide payroll documentation and support for both current and former employees in response to internal or external requests.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of employee changes, including new hires, leaves of absence, job changes, and terminations.
Qualifications :
Post-secondary education in a relevant field preferred.Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a strong asset.At least 2 years of payroll or timekeeping experience preferredSolid understanding of payroll regulations, labor laws, and union agreements across multiple states.Familiarity with job cost accounting and general ledger processes.Experience preparing, reconciling, and submitting payroll remittances for internal and external reporting.Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.Experience with payroll and accounting systems, particularly JD Edwards E1, is highly preferred.Hands-on experience with prevailing wage compliance across multiple states.Familiarity with Labor Compliance Programs (e.g., LCPtracker) is an asset.Proficient in Microsoft Office and internal business systems.Work Hours : Monday - Friday
