Join our team as a Part Time On-Call Animal Control Officer!

Our client is seeking a dedicated individual with a professional background in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary care, or animal law enforcement. This role is ideal for those who excel in sensitive situations (including euthanizing animals) and wish to make a difference in the community.

Qualifications

Must be available 24 hours per day when on call
Must be able to provide proof of rabies vaccinations
Must live within 10 miles of Westport, MA
Must have a background in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary care, or animal law enforcement
Familiarity with animal behavior and control laws
Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
Strong oral and written communication skills, with proficiency in report preparation
Ability to lift 50 pounds

Responsibilities

Ability to work in various environments, confined spaces and various weather conditions
Catching and transporting deceased animals, and strays to veterinary offices for euthanasia
Ability to work independently and build positive relationships with the public and veterinary community
Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and traumatic situations involving harmed or distressed animals with integrity, compassion, and professionalism
Cleaning and disinfecting Animal Control vehicles
Cleaning and maintaining the Animal Control Facility, including runs and cages
Educating the public on the welfare of pets and importance of canine licenses

Schedule:

Part-time with the possibility of overnights as needed
On call (7 days over 2 weeks)
Week 1: On call for 2 days; Week 2: On call for 5 days
No more than 20 hours per week

Pay:

$70 per day for each day on call even if not needed!
If you are called in, you are paid $24 per call + $70 for the day
