MNS Engineers is hiring a Southern California Project Manager to support our growing environmental planning team to manage environmental compliance (CEQA / NEPA) projects and to expand our CEQA / NEPA services throughout Southern California. The ideal candidate will be able to serve two roles : environmental analyst and be an experienced, detail-oriented project manager to help build a team of additional qualified environmental professionals. The position is compatible with remote work, but proximity to southern California is preferred. This position is ideal for an experienced candidate who wants to lead their own team of environmental planners and take a meaningful leadership role in team building and project execution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
MNS Engineers is seeking a self-driven, detail-oriented Project Manager to support the continued growth of our environmental planning team. The Southern California Project Manager will be responsible for client engagement, leadership, strategic planning, staff development and business development focused in Southern California. Job duties include :
- Support clients in need of CEQA / NEPA environmental compliance, including but not limited to overseeing CEQA / NEPA documents and related technical studies, preparing environmental analyses, and conducting environmental constraints and peer review of CEQA / NEPA documents.
- Experience and technical knowledge managing environmental compliance related documents for a variety of projects and clients, including private development, municipal / local / regional government, transportation, water, energy, general plans, housing, and / or higher education.
- Provide project management oversight on projects, including preparing and managing project budgets and task descriptions, and interacting with clients and subconsultants.
- Lead business development activities, including preparing proposals, participating in project interviews, and conducting proactive business development with key clients.
- Serve as a project / task manager on environmental compliance projects.
- Ability to strategize the environmental compliance needs of a given project.
- Driving thought leadership and MNS name recognition by presenting at conferences, publishing white papers, and serving in a leadership role in professional organizations.
- Coordinating with interdisciplinary teams including planners, engineers, and environmental scientists.
- Facilitating the public involvement process with meetings and / or presentations to bring together interested stakeholders to discuss proposed planning initiatives, assess obstacles, evaluate opposing views and interests, and determine areas of support.
- Supervision and management of environmental planning staff. Ability to coach, mentor, and develop staff.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, or a related field.Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is desirable.Minimum of 8 years of experience in progressive leadership roles with oversight of planning and environmental professionals.Staff and project / task management experience preferred.Strong technical writing, data analysis, and analytical skills with attention to detail.An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups.A high energy, passionate, forward thinking, results-oriented, team player, and resourceful leader.Ability to handle critical conversations with internal staff, managers, and leaders.A valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.MNS Engineers is proud to offer a comprehensive benefits program to meet the diverse needs of our team members.
