We’re looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as an Application Developer, responsible for designing, building, modernizing, and maintaining essential NYC internal and external web applications. These applications serve more than , users annually, and your work will be pivotal in ensuring their continued success and modernization.
About our team :
The DevOps team at OTI primarily builds public-facing and internal web applications to support City initiatives and operations. We take pride in utilizing modern technologies for most of our application portfolio, including AWS, containerization, and Azure DevOps. As an Application Developer, you will play a key role in maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing various applications, ensuring they remain up to date, and delivering an excellent user experience. Your expertise will be critical in driving innovation and resolving technical challenges, ensuring the continued success of these vital services for New York City.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and / or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and / or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and / or domain; or
4. Education and / or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.
Preferred Skills
The successful candidate should possess the following : - 8+ years of applied experience in Java development (Java 8 or above). - Extensive experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security for building enterprise-grade applications. - 2+ years of applied experience in building public-facing web applications using React. - Proven experience with AWS and / or Microsoft Azure cloud services including deployment, scaling, and security best practices. - Proficient in containerization technologies such as Docker. - Familiarity with CI / CD pipelines and tools such as Azure DevOps, Git, or Maven / Gradle. - Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server. - Solid understanding of object-oriented principles, secure coding practices, and enterprise integration patterns. - Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and other emerging technologies to accelerate development, improve code quality, and enhance productivity. - Experience with Salesforce CRM or Microsoft Dynamics, including configuration, customization, and supporting business processes.
