Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit :

Classes provide rigorous and evidence-based content, and give students the opportunity to explore theory, learn intervention skills and engage in challenging dialogue with colleagues.
Position Summary :

The Instructional Technologist works with content experts (faculty), instructional designers, content developers, and other members of the design team to facilitate technology-rich teaching and learning content, create new e-learning material, and build courses in the School’s Learning Management System (e.g. Canvas). This person will work with other team members to plan, organize, implement, review, and deploy online learning modules for the Online MSW program, and create new e-learning material based on the specifications of faculty and the design team. This person will be responsible to test deployed material, address technical problems, and update created content on a regular basis. This position will also identify new technology or educational means to provide users with a seamless experience, including troubleshooting new features and ensuring sites are working correctly. This person will be responsible for working with multiple content experts at one time, assisting with instructional and educational content development, multimedia development, and LMS technical expertise in support of students, faculty, and staff.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements :
Associate’s Degree in Computer Programming, or
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :
Proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Proven ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to collect data, create reports, and prepare written communication with an attention to detail and accuracy
Knowledge of design, implementation, and evaluation of asynchronous & synchronous instructional strategies
Able to work as an independent developer managing the demands of multiple projects and creatively handling resources and time conflicts
Able to work collaboratively with the subject matter experts
Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels of the organizational contact
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience :
Experience with post-production tasks including video and audio editing, effects, branding and file compression.
Experience with Online Course Quality Assurance.
Basic HTML experience and ability to edit out excessive code if needed
A strong commitment to the mission of the School of Social Work.
Familiarity with institutional effectiveness issues and other institutional assessment concepts.
Problem solving skills and the ability to lead, instruct, handle a large variety of details and to work with all levels of organization, with excellent attention to detail.
Experience in use of Articulate Rise and Storyline, or other e-learning software
Experience with learning technology solutions and learning management systems, and online course development, preferably in Canvas.
Ability to navigate and understand new technologies and a strong grasp of various technologies, such as : VoiceThread, Poll Everywhere, Qualtrics, Teams Office 365, Zoom, Panopto, Padlet, etc.
Proficient with Web markup languages including HTML, XML, and Cascading Style Sheets.
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite for graphics and video editing.
Experience working closely with higher education faculty members
Strong copy-editing skills including familiarity with style guides, copyright laws, and Web accessibility standards
Experience with DesignPlus
