JOB SUMMARY :   The Surgical Technologist, working under the direct supervision of the perioperative nurse, performs the duties of a scrub person. Prepares supplies for case, sets up and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon, readies used instruments for the cleaning and re-sterilization process. Provides in-service education and assists with projects. Position may require working at alternate sites within surgical services.

Certifications / Licenses Requirement :

• Required : Successful completion of accredited surgical technology training program
• Preferred : High school diploma; successful completion of OR Tech training program
• Required : Certification as a surgical technologist (CST or TS-C) or graduate of an accredited AA / AS degree program; American Heart Association BLS-Experience
• Required : M inimum two (2) years of experience as a surgical technologist in an acute multi-specialty environment, evidencing independent performance in a variety of surgical specialties
