The City of Naperville has an opportunity for an experienced claims professional as part of its in-house Legal Department. As a self-insured municipality, the City of Napervilles Administrator will manage automobile liability, general liability, and workers compensation programs for a workforce of nearly 1,000 employees. This critical position investigates and resolves claims, while managing third-party administrators and administering the self-insurance fund budget.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $29.9552 to $35.9462 per hour commensurate with credentials and experience. The Pay Grade for this position is N225.

Responsibilities Include :

• Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle automobile and general liability claims against the City, including conducting site visits, interviews, photographic documentation, records collection, and analysis of liability, reserves, and damages.
• Manage the Citys workers compensation program, including oversight of the third-party administrator, coordination of medical treatment, authorization of care, return-to-work and alternate duty accommodations, and collaboration with counsel on contested claims.
• Pursue subrogation and property damage recoveries for losses that the City sustains.
• Record, track, and report claims-related information and data; analyze claims data, identify loss trends, prepare reports for the City Council, City Manager, departments, and the Safety Team, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
• Provide analytical, technical, and administrative support to City attorneys in claims-related litigation, including preparation of discovery responses, document production, motions and briefs, and trial or testimony assistance.
• Prepare, administer, and monitor the self-insurance fund budgets for workers compensation, automobile, and general liability claims; execute departmental chargebacks and financial reporting.
• Review contracts, certificates of insurance, and insurance policies to ensure appropriate coverage, terms, and compliance.
• Serve as a resource to all City departments on liability, workers compensation, insurance coverage, and loss prevention issues.
• Participate in Safety Team initiatives and provide or coordinate related training on accident investigation and workers compensation.
• Strive to improve overall Legal Department operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline processes, and collaborate to provide quality customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
