Job Summary

Position : Assistant Professor of Chemistry (Organic)

  • Full-time, 10-month contract (August 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027); 4 / 4 teaching load with the possibility of summer teaching.
  • This is a tenure-track position.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a variety of courses in the Department of Chemistry, Geology and Physics including supporting courses in the core curriculum, and as assigned.
  • The ability to teach organic and introductory chemistry.
  • Actively engage in research and scholarly activities to contribute to the academic excellence of the department, college, and institution.
  • Provide dedicated advising and mentorship to students as assigned, fostering their academic and professional growth.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to service through active participation in departmental, institutional, and professional activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair, Dean, and Administration.
  • Required Qualifications

    Required Qualifications

    Doctorate is required in Organic Chemistry or related field by the time of appointment. ABD will be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching college-level courses in Organic Chemistry and Introductory Chemistry (lectures and labs).
  • Experience teaching First-Generation students.
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines.
  • Experience coordinating students in experiential learning opportunities, internships, and High Impact Practices (HIPs).
  • Expertise in teaching inorganic, medicinal, forensic, or other areas of chemistry beyond organic and introductory chemistry courses.
  • Proposed Salary

    Salary Range

    $60,000 - $65,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
