Role Description :

This is a part-time on-site role for an Academic Tutor at DUYA in Los Angeles, CA. The Academic Tutor will be responsible for hosting small-group academic interventions in various subjects including ELA, Math, and / or phonics for grades K-8.

Compensation :

Non- Exempt

24.00 / hour

15 -20 hours per week

Qualifications :

• 1+ years of tutoring or teaching experience, in a classroom or after-school setting
• Background in English and Math
• Strong communication skills and ability to connect with students
• Proficient in Microsoft software
• Patient, empathetic, and passionate about youth development
• Enrolled in or graduated from college (AA degree or higher)
• Valid CA driver’s license and automobile insurance
• Ability to drive to and from school sites

Duties :

• Provides academic support by assisting students with homework, projects, and test preparation to improve their understanding of specific subjects.
• Developing personalized learning plans, explaining complex concepts, teaching study and test-taking skills, and tracking student progress.
• Communicate with parents and, when necessary, collaborate with teachers to align with classroom instruction.
• Create a positive and focused learning environment to build students’ confidence and independence.
• Administer diagnostics and mastery quizzes

Schedule availability : Option 1 or 2 below :

• Option 1 : Tuesday + Thursday 12 pm- 5 : 30 pm and Fridays 9 am- 1 pm (15 hours per week)
• Option 2 : Monday- Thursday 12 pm- 5 : 00 pm (20 hours per week)
