Accountant

Our established client is seeking an accountant to join their team in Houston, Texas. This role partners with the technology team and accounting team to better streamline accounting functions utilizing business systems. The ideal candidate will have an accounting degree with a specialty in management information systems.

Responsibilities :

Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.

Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.

Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.

Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis processes.

Collaborate with operations, finance, and IT teams to resolve process and system-related accounting issues.

Maintain fixed asset schedules and manage depreciation.

Support audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Develop and enhance financial reports and models using advanced Excel functions (pivot tables, lookups, macros, Power Query, etc.).

Assist with implementation or improvement of accounting systems and processes.

Requirements :

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. Background in accounting information systems (AIS) preferred.

2+ years of relevant accounting experience.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data modeling).

Experience with ERP / accounting systems such as SAP, Sage, NetSuite, or similar.

Comfortable working with large datasets and financial analytics tools.
