Overview
Non-Tenure Track Adjunct Instructor (Architecture) - Pool at Prairie View A&M University. This is a non-tenure track, part-time (less than 50% effort) position to teach courses listed in this posting. The department seeks to establish a pool of qualified applicants for potential employment in future Adjunct Instructor positions.
Responsibilities
- Teach up to 7 undergraduate / graduate semester credit hours per semester (less than 50% FTE)
- Maintain and manage student records
- Post grades (assignments, mid-term & final) in a timely manner
- Submit attendance reporting
- Mentor and assist students
- Post and maintain office hours for a minimum of three (3) hours per week
- Attend student class orientation as needed (if required by the hiring department)
- Attend clinical / simulation / studio meetings as needed (if required by the hiring department)
- Other duties as assigned by the department head
Qualifications and Requirements
Faculty Credentialing Requirements
Undergraduate Level : Faculty teaching baccalaureate courses require a doctorate or master's degree in the teaching discipline or a master's degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in the teaching discipline)Graduate Level : Faculty teaching graduate and post-baccalaureate coursework require an earned doctorate / terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related disciplinePreferred Qualifications and Skills
Prior teaching experience at the collegiate levelKnowledge of online learning management systemsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasksSufficient knowledge of the subject area being taughtKnowledge of a variety of teaching methods to provide effective learning experiencesTechnical competence in appropriate subject matter and the ability to apply this knowledge to problem solvingUnderstanding of the learning and development processes of youth and adultsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to multitask and work cooperatively with othersExcellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, staff, and community membersAbility to use virtual technology and related software to support online teaching (if required by the hiring department)What You Need to Know
Salary : Compensation is on a per-course basis and based on factors such as academic discipline, faculty credentialing, experience, etc. Minimum pay is commensurate depending on education and experienceWork Location : In person / Remote / HybridSelected applicants for the current academic year may teach up to 7 SCH in an assigned semester (less than 50% FTE)Adjunct positions are temporary appointments, assigned per semester, and on an as-needed basisAdditional Posting Information
This is a general-purpose adjunct faculty pool for use across multiple disciplines. Applicants in this pool may or may not be selected for employment for the current academic year. This pool will remain open until all adjunct vacancies have been filled. All completed applications will be reviewed on an ongoing basis. Candidates selected for interviews will be contacted as open positions become available. If you are no longer interested, you may withdraw your application from the pool. This position will be closed at the end of the current academic year, and a new application is required each academic year to demonstrate continued interest.
