Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring at least two years of pediatric critical care experience and active MD or compact RN licensure.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a hospital settingCare for both PICU (80%) and NICU (20%) patient populationsTypical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2, or 1 : 3 for IMC level patientsPatient diagnoses include congenital cardiac disorders, cardiac cath recovery, DKA, respiratory illness, surgical cases, medically complex cases, and behavioral healthSpecial procedures include CRRT, mechanical ventilation, ABG interpretation, vasopressor titration, and care for trach patientsDay shifts are scheduled as 4x12 hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 30Every other weekend and every other holiday requiredFloating required within the specialty, including NICU, Pediatric ED, and Pediatric Progressive CareNo on-call responsibilitiesCare for critically ill pediatric and neonate patients with diverse diagnosesWill be required to float within all pediatric specialties as necessaryFirst-time travelers are accepted for this positionReturn travelers must have a 6-month gap from previous assignments; former staff must be separated for 12 months before returning as travelersCandidates cannot request block scheduling or scheduling restrictionsHoliday and RTO (Requested Time Off) expectations must be provided at submission and cannot be changed laterCompliance includes completing required CPI certification online if not already obtainedGeneral orientation modules are required before beginning assignmentRequirements
Active MD or compact RN license required at time of considerationMinimum of 2 years recent PICU experience requiredCertifications required : BLS and PALS (AHA only); CPI certificate preferredNICU experience is accepted but must be comfortable in both PICU and NICU environmentsMust provide two satisfactory professional references, including at least one supervisor / manager and one charge RNCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the hospitalBenefits
