American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position specializing in cardiac telemetry and advanced cardiac care skills.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with a cardiac patient populationPatient conditions include atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, and vascular diseasesCare involves pre- and post-cardiac cath, sheath management, cardiac drips, and interpretation / management of dysrhythmiasProcedures include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), VATS, carotid endarterectomy, vascular and thoracic surgeries, pacemaker placement, and general thoracic surgeryPatient ratios vary by acuity : 1 : 4 for surgical stepdown, 1 : 5-6 for lower acuity patientsNight shift position (3x12 hours, 36 hours / week), with four weekend shifts per four weeks (flexible scheduling)Uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication managementFloating required based on rotation; not first to float and may float within the hospital or to affiliatesSpecial equipment includes arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wiresPrimary responsibilities include caring for complex cardiac and vascular patients, managing drips, and assisting with specialized cardiac and vascular proceduresExpected to work during catastrophic events, disaster situations, or consolidations, including participation in Storm and Hurricane Teams as assigned24 hours of unit orientation provided at beginning of contractNavy scrubs required for this unitModules must be completed prior to start and annually as required by specialtyFirst week RTO (time off) not allowed due to orientation; up to 7 days RTO auto-approved if not on a holiday, other RTO requires approvalCandidate must be willing to float and have no restrictions or special requests regarding unit assignmentsFatigue policy limits work to no more than 5 days in a row or more than 60 hours in a weekCandidates must be available for an interview prior to offer\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start (license pending OK for submission)Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience requiredPrevious traveler experience required unless more than 2 years of cardiac experienceCertifications required : BLS, ACLS, and NIHSSMust pass EKG testing prior to start dateExperience with Epic charting strongly preferredSkills in telemetry, PCU / DOU / IMC / stepdown, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation, cardiac drips (titration and non-titration), airway management, and chest tubes requiredPreferred skills : arterial line management, wound care / wound vac, and charge RN experiencePrevious permanent or PRN staff at the health system must have a 12-month separation before considerationReferences from two supervisors / managers within past 12 months preferred\n Benefits\n
