Woodrow is seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Quality Control and Shipping Specialist.

Job Description :

Responsible for ensuring that every product leaving our facility meets stringent quality requirements while overseeing accurate and timely shipping operations. This dual-role position encompasses comprehensive product inspection, shipping coordination, and company-wide quality improvement initiatives. You will perform in-process and final inspections to AS9100 standards, investigate quality issues across departments, and implement corrective actions to maintain our reputation for excellence with our customers. Additionally, you will lead continuous improvement initiatives using 5S, lean manufacturing, kaizen, and root cause analysis techniques. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across all departments to support our continued growth and operational excellence.

Candidates should have experience in quality control and shipping operations, preferably in manufacturing environments with AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities :

Quality Control Operations :

• Product Inspection : Perform comprehensive in-process and final product inspections to AS9100 standards using precision measurement tools and inspection equipment.
• Quality Documentation : Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation for audit compliance and customer requirements.
• Root Cause Analysis : Investigate quality issues across departments, identify root causes using 5 Why method and fishbone diagrams, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Specification Compliance : Verify all products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements before shipment.

Continuous Improvement :

• 5S Implementation : Lead and participate in 5S workplace organization initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain organized work environments.
• Kaizen Leadership : Facilitate kaizen events and contribute to lean manufacturing improvements throughout the organization.
• Process Improvement : Apply continuous improvement methodologies to identify opportunities for enhanced quality, efficiency, and cost reduction.
• Cross-Department Collaboration : Work with production teams to implement quality improvements and prevent recurring issues.

Shipping Operations :

• Shipping Coordination : Oversee shipping operations to ensure orders are packaged, documented, and shipped accurately and on time.
• Compliance Verification : Verify shipping compliance with customer requirements, specifications, and documentation needs.
• Order Accuracy : Ensure proper labeling, packaging, and protection of products for safe delivery to customers.
• Shipping Documentation : Maintain accurate shipping records and coordinate with customer service teams for delivery tracking.

Quality Systems Management :

• Audit Support : Prepare documentation and support internal and external quality audits.
• Training Support : Assist with quality training initiatives and help maintain quality awareness across the organization.
• Customer Communication : Collaborate with production and customer service teams to resolve quality concerns quickly and effectively.

Qualifications :

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of experience in quality control and inspection operations
• Strong understanding of AS9100 or ISO 9001 quality management systems
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods
• Proficiency in quality inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measurement equipment
• Experience in root cause analysis tools, including 5 Why method and fishbone diagrams
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
• Preferred :
• Prior experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing
• Familiarity with ERP / MRP systems for shipping and quality tracking
• Aerospace manufacturing
