Government Information Specialist (FOIA And Privacy Act)

Serves as a Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) focal point and technical expert for the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) programs. Incumbent handles complex, novel, and difficult FOIA issues within the FOIA and Privacy Division (J6DC), under the Information Governance and Compliance Division (J6DC). Researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to information requests; assembling and reviewing proposed FOIA release packages for release / non-release of records. Supports effective implementation strategies for agency FOIA and Privacy Act compliance program policy and procedures and manage assigned projects in support of them. Serves as the specialist supporting the DLA Enterprise at one of the major support command (MSC), but will be required to develop working knowledge of all DLA MSCs from a FOIA and Privacy Act compliance perspective. Responsible for researching, analyzing, and evaluating data for response to information requests; assembling and reviewing proposed FOIA release package. Manages projects in support of the development and continuous improvement of the DLA FOIA programs. Safeguards information while supporting accountability and transparency initiatives. Assisting Government attorneys in the litigation process. Serving as liaison to external customers and recipients to clarify and resolve issues. Complying with agency policy and procedures with regard to the administration of FOIA and Privacy Act.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Tour of Duty : Set Schedule. Security Requirements : Non-Critical Sensitive. Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal.
