Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide specialized speech therapy services to patients across various age groups, with a focus on geriatric care. This role involves assessing communication disorders, developing individualized treatment plans, and delivering effective therapy to improve patients' speech, language, and swallowing functions as well as addressing behavioral and cognitive functions. Experience in geriatric care and familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy are highly valued as well as the ability to great goal-oriented therapy program that is tailored to the evolving needs of each resident addressing barriers such as medical complexity, cognitive decline, and dysphagia risk. The Speech Therapist will play a vital role in enhancing patient care and supporting patients' communication needs within our multidisciplinary team by collaborating with nursing, therapy, and dietary teams.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement personalized therapy plans tailored to each patient's needs, including early intervention strategies for geriatric patients
- Deliver engaging and evidence-based speech therapy sessions to improve communication skills
- Collaborate with educators, healthcare providers, and families to ensure cohesive patient care plans
- Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust therapy techniques accordingly
- Maintain detailed documentation of treatment sessions, progress notes, and patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations
- Stay current with advancements in speech therapy practices, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology
Requirements
Valid licensure or certification as a Speech Therapist or Speech-Language PathologistPrior experience working with geriatric population is desirableStrong knowledge of speech therapy techniques, physiology, anatomy, and medical terminologyExperience with patient assessment and developing effective treatment plansPassion for patient care with excellent communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary teamKnowledge of geriatric related conditions is highly desirableDemonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in speech therapy fieldsJob Type : Full-time
