Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual for our Entry Level Inspector position. This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in inspection and sampling work in the field, while ensuring efficient communication and accurate reporting. As a trainee inspector, you will be guided by experienced professionals as you develop your skills in determining product quality and compliance.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Complete all necessary safety and orientation training to gain access to customer facilities.
- Shadow a senior inspector to learn the fundamental inspection and sampling processes.
- Understand and adhere to the American Petroleum Institute (API) and IFIA procedures, along with customer and company guidelines.
- Perform basic inspection tasks as directed, including physical measurements and sampling of products.
- Communicate effectively with office staff, providing updates on any changes in plans or procedures.
- Prepare and distribute field reports accurately, as instructed by your training supervisor.
- Ensure samples obtained during inspections are correctly identified and transported in a timely manner.
- Other related tasks assigned by your supervisor.
Required Skills
High school diploma or relevant experience in the industry.Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using various units of measure.Proficiency with basic computer software like word processing and spreadsheets.Must have access to a licensed and insured vehicle in good operating condition for job-related transportation.Willingness to accept job assignments on a 24 / 7 basis, including overtime and shift work when necessary.Ability to work in refineries, terminals, and on marine vessels as required.Promptly respond to office communications and be consistently available.Attendance at monthly safety meetings is mandatory.A TWIC Card may be required for access to terminals and other restricted areas.Working Conditions
Employees may be exposed to various chemicals, fumes, and hazardous materials. The role requires outdoor work under various weather conditions, often in industrial settings such as refineries and terminals. The noise level may be high at times, and travel may be required.
Physical Requirements
This is a safety-sensitive position that requires drug and alcohol testing.Must be able to pass a Pulmonary Fitness Test and a physical examination as required.Ability to work safely in environments with petroleum-related odors within safe exposure limits.Must be capable of climbing tanks and stairs, typically up to 100 feet high, while carrying samples weighing up to 45 lbs.Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
