Job Description
This is a hybrid role (2 days in office / 3 days remote) in either Worcester, MA, Itasca, IL, Syracus, NY, Howell, MI, Southfield, MI, or Richmond, VA. You must live or be willing to live in any of these locations to be considered.
Position Overview :
We’re seeking an experienced Claims Specialist to manage a portfolio of complex commercial liability cases. This individual will serve as a key point of contact for policyholders, agents, and risk managers—handling every aspect of the claims process from investigation to resolution. The role requires sound judgment, strong analytical ability, and technical expertise across multiple jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities :
- Obtain and maintain required state adjuster licenses and continuing education credits.
- Manage complex commercial liability claims with moderate to high exposure.
- Conduct detailed investigations, including direct phone contact with involved parties.
- Apply independent judgment and discretion in evaluating and resolving claims.
- Review coverage interpretations and craft comprehensive coverage position letters.
- Detect and assess potentially fraudulent claims.
- Provide expert-level knowledge of industry products, policies, and standards.
- Review contracts and leases to identify potential risk transfer opportunities.
- Lead negotiations and settlements while maintaining professional relationships.
- Represent the company during mediations, arbitrations, or small claims hearings.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior adjusters as needed.
- Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and productivity throughout the claims process.
- Contribute innovative solutions and approaches to complex claim issues.
Qualifications & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; industry designations preferred.4–10 years of experience handling Commercial General Liability claims.Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution with both internal and external stakeholders.Proven analytical and critical thinking capabilities.Adept at managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Team-oriented mindset with the ability to foster collaboration.Knowledge of relevant laws, statutes, and case precedents.Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and claims management platforms (e.g., CSS, PMS, CMX).Comfortable working in a digital / paperless environment.Benefits :
