Job Description Summary / TWC Summary :
Under the general guidance of the Dean, College of Science, Engineering and Technology, the Department Chair will be responsible for the administrative and academic functions of the Department of Chemistry. The Department Chair teaches at the undergraduate and / or graduate levels, leads the faculty in continued curricular development, engages in and promote active research and leads initiatives to build the academic program and to secure necessary funding and accreditations.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of :
Skill in : Successful candidates should have a distinguished record of successful program administration in an academic setting and a reputation for teaching, research, and intellectual leadership.
Ability to : Assists the dean in supervising and directing the work activities of staff in department, functional area, or program. Supervises faculty and staff and provides overall direction and expectations for the department, functional area, or program. Has human resources responsibilities and authority for faculty and staff. This position typically reports to the Dean.
Work Experience :
There must be ample evidence of a successful professional career in Chemistry. The successful applicant must be qualified to be appointed with tenure at the rank of professor or above in the Department of Chemistry.
