Position Summary :

The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is accepting applications for a full-time Food Service Manager in the Dining Services department. This position plays a key leadership role in supporting the daily success of our campus dining operations by overseeing culinary functions and ensuring high standards of food quality, service, and sanitation. The Food Service Manager leads and directs dining services staff in the setup, preparation, service, and breakdown of meals, while actively coordinating with management, team members, and customers to maintain efficient and effective service.

Key responsibilities include shift planning, food and labor cost management, inventory control, and maintaining proper sanitation standards. This position requires strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced dining environment.

The salary range for this position is $55,000 per year, commensurate with experience. The University of Wisconsin System offers a nationally top ranked retirement plan and a comprehensive benefits package.

Key Job Responsibilities :

• Provides operational guidance and leadership for all aspects of culinary and food service activities.
• Develops, coaches, and supports culinary team members to enhance skills and performance.
• Plans and directs the implementation of operating policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety, quality, handling, and sanitation standards.
• Designs and maintains systems for labor management, food waste reduction, and inventory control.
• Tracks, forecasts, and manages inventory levels; places and approves replenishment orders as needed.
• Oversees daily shift operations through effective game planning and resource allocation.
• Monitors and manages unit budgets, ensuring expenditures align with operational goals and financial targets.
• Identifies training needs and facilitates or arranges professional development opportunities for staff.
• Develops menus, communication plans, and staff resources aligned with departmental goals.
• Ensures exceptional customer service by responding to questions, resolving concerns, and promoting a positive dining experience.
• Maintains proper sanitation standards and ensures compliance with health and safety regulations.
