Job Purpose :

  • Assist individuals with brain injury, intellectual disabilities, and other neurological disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating, dignified life by serving as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of individuals' rights and benefits.

Essential Functions :

Empowering People's Independence is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work with an active, fun-loving youth in the Self-Direction program. The primary location would be in Liverpool,

but the individual enjoys traveling locally and exploring new places. This individual is seeking Community Habilitation staff to help him work to achieve his personal goals. The individual and his

family are looking for the new staff member to join the team by summer 2025.

We are looking for individuals that are energetic, dependable, patient, and enthusiastic. Prior experience working with neurodivergent individuals and / or individuals with developmental

disabilities is strongly preferred but not required. The team is also willing to train the right applicant. Reliable vehicle and a New York State driver's license are required. Background check, fingerprinting and DMV record check will be conducted prior to hire by the agency. There is no cost to the applicant for any of these required checks. Any / all training time for this position is paid.

  • Provide supervision, training, and assistance in accomplishing activities of daily living, which includes, but is not limited to, self-care skills, social skills, recreation skills, community skills, and domestic skills for a 14 year old boy.
  • Schedule :
  • 10 hours / week, day shifts and after school hours. Some evenings and weekends as

    needed and requested by the individual.

  • Schedule may vary based on the individual's schedule and needs.
  • Pay Rate : $23-25

    Location : Liverpool, NY

    Education and Experience :

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one-year experience in the human service field preferred.
  • Qualifications :

  • Maintain a valid New York State driver's license; a vehicle is required to perform the job
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be trained in all required trainings within 90 days of being hired and maintain current certifications with all required trainings
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Applicants cannot have the same address as person supported

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee travels by automobile and will be exposed to changing weather conditions.

    OSHA Category 1 :

    This position requires tasks that involve exposure to blood or body fluids that requires specific training for the employees' safety.
