Position Summary
responsible for installing, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting fiber optic drop cables from the main distribution point to individual homes. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, accurate documentation, and adherence to industry standards and safety practices. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, comfortable working outdoors, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Fiber Splicing & Installation
- Splice, terminate, and test single-mode fiber for residential drop connections (aerial and underground).
- Install ONTs, drop terminals, enclosures, and associated hardware.
- Use fusion splicing equipment, OTDRs, light meters, and other test gear to ensure proper signal performance.
- Perform troubleshooting and repair of fiber drops, connectors, and premise equipment.
Field Work & Site Preparation
Work on ladders, bucket trucks, or at ground level to access splice points and NIDs / ONTs.Read and interpret network maps, construction prints, and splice schematics.Ensure clean, organized cable routing, proper slack storage, and compliance with bend radius, sealing, and environmental protection standards.Perform underground work, including using locators, hand tools, and safe digging practices.Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate splicing records, test results, and as-built documentation.Report daily production, job status, material usage, and any field issues.Update work orders and submit accurate documentation via mobile apps or field systems.Safety & Quality
