Are you a confident, experienced Title IX investigator? Are you familiar with student conduct, discrimination, and other types of civil rights investigations? Do you know and apply “best practices” that help you comply with institutional or legal investigation requirements? Do you treat all individuals involved with dignity and respect while conducting an impartial investigation? Can you write a concise, well-organized, thorough report that helps the reader make a reliable, evidence-based decision? Read on!

TNG seeks applicants experienced in Title IX, student conduct, and discrimination or harassment investigations in educational and similar settings. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to develop and conduct civil rights investigations based on published policies or guidelines. The successful candidate(s) will reflect a thoughtful, thorough, and competent approach to the application of the law and published policy with a logical, timely, impartial method for gathering and presenting evidence.

The Investigator will conduct investigative work virtually

Key Responsibilities

The Investigator will :

  • Develop investigation plans that foster a timely, fair, thorough, and impartial investigation and report and that is consistent with the client’s needs, policies, and processes
  • Review the investigation plan with the client as necessary
  • Conduct investigations in a timely manner, keeping all parties informed of progress consistent with the law and institutional policies
  • Write clear, concise, thorough investigation reports that will support efficient decision-maker review and application
  • When appropriate, develop reliable determinations of policy violations, citing relevant evidence to support the conclusion

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required :

  • 3+ years of experience conducting investigations, including TIX investigations, in an educational setting
  • Thorough knowledge of TIX investigation regulations and processes
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Track record of treating people from diverse settings, backgrounds with respect
  • Strong analytical ability and reasoning skills
  • Superior interview skills with the ability to adjust as information is disclosed and probe for relevant, useful evidence
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proven ability to handle multiple investigations simultaneously
  • Strong relationship development skills
  • Computer program proficiency, including the use of in MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, secure file-sharing and network drives, and virtual meeting tools
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred :

  • 5+ years investigation experience in an educational setting
  • Strong track record conducting diverse Title IX, Title VII / EEO, student conduct, and other types of civil rights investigations.
