Medical Assistant

About the Role :

Seeking a Medical Assistant for a busy primary care practice. This position requires experience in a fast-paced environment with shared rooming of 20-40 patients per day. The ideal candidate will be adept at taking vitals, patient intake, chart prep, and administering vaccines and injections.

Type : Full Time, 40 hours per week (Temporary, with potential to become permanent based on performance and attendance)

Location : On-site in East Providence, RI

Shift : Monday - Friday, with typical work hours starting between 7 : 30 / 8 : 00 AM and ending between 5 : 00 / 5 : 30 PM. One day per week will have an earlier start and end time.

Qualifications :

Experience : A minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant, with at least 2 years in a primary care setting.

Education : High school diploma or equivalent. Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

Technical Skills : Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, with at least 6 months of experience using Athena being a plus.

Knowledge : Strong understanding of back-office duties, including taking vitals, patient intake, chart prep, vaccines, injections, spirometry, EKG, and point-of-care testing.

Key Responsibilities :

• Perform patient intake, including taking and recording vitals.
• Prepare patient charts for appointments.
• Administer vaccines and injections as directed by a provider.
• Conduct various point-of-care tests.
• Perform spirometry and EKG procedures.
• Work closely with 6 providers and other staff to ensure smooth patient flow and a positive patient experience.
