Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Tax Specialist to join our growing Tax team! As a Tax Specialist, you will work on US tax compliance for partnerships, including tax estimates and distributions, indirect taxes, tax research, and various planning projects.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of tax return workpapers, M-1s, and allocations
- Review partnership tax returns and K-1s prepared by our service providers
- Maintain and review partnership allocations, 743 / 734 adjustments, and maintain partnership tax capital accounts
- Own reporting and withholding on non-US partners and shareholders (Form 8804, Form 1042)
- Manage other tax reporting obligations and filings like FBAR and Form 1099
- Assist in calculating quarterly tax estimates and partner distributions
- Provide support for indirect tax compliance, including sales and use tax, VAT, GST
- Research and analyze complex tax issues and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and payroll teams on various workstreams and special projects
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting partnerships
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's in Taxation or CPA preferred)4+ years of relevant tax experience, with a strong focus on partnership taxationPublic accounting and / or finance / trading industry experience preferredProficient in preparing partnership allocations, tax adjustments, and workpapersAbility to perform a detailed review of Form 1065 and Schedules K-1 and K-3Ability to act as a self-starter and take initiative; strong project management skills with a proactive approach and exceptional organizational abilities with attention to details.Exceptional written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize projects in a fast-paced environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skillsImpeccable ethics, integrity, and discretion when working with confidential informationAbility to work both independently and within a team to identify and resolve issuesExperience working with operating partnerships, management companies, international entities preferredFamiliarity with indirect tax compliance and planning strategies preferredStrong research and writing skills, including comfort with tax code, regulations, and authoritative guidance preferredExperience with Workday as an accounting system preferredFamiliarity with partnership basis tracking and Section 704(b) / 704(c) concepts preferredThe estimated base salary range for this position is 120,000 to 160,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This role will also be eligible for discretionary performance-based bonuses and a competitive benefits package.
