Our Quality Improvement department is responsible for all quality and safety performance metrics that are reported internally and publicly. This is accomplished through team collaboration using performance improvement PI principles and analytical tools. As a QI Specialist, you will serve teams throughout the hospital by facilitating quality improvement. We help teams define the problem(s) they are facing, help them measure those problems, then help them design and implement processes to stop the problems from reoccurring.

On any given day, the QIS might be :

• Meeting with a leader to set an agenda for a project team
• Managing data to show whether a problem is improving, and the process(es) used to make it better is happening
• Going to a department to observe and talk to people about how their work is performed
• Attending working performance improvement project meetings and offering expertise on all phases of the project
• Every month help conduct a 1.5 hour Quality and Safety Council meeting during which leaders present the ongoing state of their projects

This role is onsite Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center

POSITION SUMMARY This position supports high reliability in clinical performance through ongoing assessment of performance, prioritizes clinical improvement activities, facilitates performance improvement, and promotes successful implementation to achieve entity / system targets. This role requires strong communication, collaboration, teamwork, and change management skills in order to achieve desired results across the continuum of care. This role serves as a quality SME to Leaders throughout the facility.

CORE FUNCTIONS :

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires a Bachelors degree.

Requires a proficiency level typically attained with five years clinical experience OR quality improvement experience.

Requires Certified Professional Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) certification within 3 years of being in the job and obtaining Quality work experience. For individuals in this role prior to June 1, 2025, CPHQ or CPPS must be obtained within 3 years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred. Masters Degree is preferred. Experience with process improvement, regulatory / accreditation programs, data management, and analysis including graphic development and presentations is highly desirable.

If in a profession that requires licensure, current licensure / certification / registration is required for state worked.

Additional related education and / or experience preferred.
