Job Description :

JSL is seeking a motivated and adaptable System Engineer / Project Manager to support the Sub Sonic Aerial Targets (SSAT) program at Point Mugu. This hybrid role combines hands-on system engineering with project management responsibilities to ensure program execution, system performance, and alignment with government and contractor objectives.

This individual will serve as the sole contractor presence at Point Mugu for SSAT support, working in direct communication with government operations personnel and the PMA office. They will track, prioritize, and complete projects on-site, while ensuring alignment of efforts and priorities through the Operations Manager.

Requirements : Key Responsibilities

  • Provide system engineering support for SSAT systems, including troubleshooting, integration, sustainment, and documentation updates.
  • Act as project manager, overseeing schedules, milestones, risks, and deliverables to ensure successful execution.
  • Serve as the primary on-site contractor liaison, maintaining daily communication with government operations personnel and the PMA office.
  • Track and communicate government priorities and project progress through the Operations Manager.
  • Prepare and present technical and project status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Ensure adherence to DoD, Navy, and SSAT program engineering standards and processes.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation including requirements, project plans, and technical reports.
  • Represent the team in working groups, reviews, and technical exchange meetings.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Clearance : Active DoD Secret required; eligibility for Top Secret preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in system engineering, project management, or hybrid technical roles supporting DoD or Navy programs.
  • Proven ability to independently manage technical projects, track performance, and ensure deliverables meet program requirements.
  • Familiarity with Navy systems, flight test operations, or unmanned aerial target programs strongly preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with OEMs and government customers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to brief leadership and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project (or equivalent scheduling tools), and documentation platforms.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Certifications :
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.

  • Systems Engineering certification (INCOSE CSEP) desirable.
  • Meets DoD 8140 requirements via certifications or education.

  • Security Clearance :

    Applicants must have an active security clearance and / or the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance as specified in the minimum qualifications. Selected candidates will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements to obtain a DoD government-granted security clearance. Individuals will be subject to a background investigation including, but not limited to, criminal history, employment, and education verification, drug testing, and creditworthiness.
