Grounds / Maintenance Worker
Job Purpose : The Grounds and Maintenance Worker serves as a key member of the fair team and is under the general direction of the fair general manager. Qualifications : High school diploma or an equivalent required. The grounds and maintenance worker should be comfortable working with machinery, equipment, chemicals, and livestock. Arena work will be beneficial. Must be able to work well under pressure. Must be comfortable working independently. Must be self-motivated, able to complete tasks to the best of their ability with little or no supervision. Structure of work week : Full-time hourly, benefited position, varied time schedule, with an average work week of 40 hours. This position will be required to assist at the main fairgrounds, and additional hours may be needed prior to, during and after the annual Fremont County Fair. Wages : Beginning wage is $32,000 to $38,000 depending on experience. Job Duties : The grounds and maintenance worker's responsibilities include working with machinery and equipment; chemicals; livestock; general public; skilled trades' personnel and outside contractors. Ensures efficiency, cost effective and high-quality services across the year around operation of the fairplex. Ensures that proper operation and maintenance practices are utilized, along with proper resources to provide top quality maintenance, with new renovations and construction as needed. Ensure that safe policies and procedures are adhered to, maximum productivity with efficient delivery of services. Ensures that all work and duties are performed safely in compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations; Fremont County and Fremont County Fair Board policies. Assists the facility in maintaining compliance with the regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). This position will also be responsible for cleaning and maintaining classrooms, bathrooms, lobby and other areas of the fairplex, located at 875 Gasser Rd. Any other duties as assigned by fair general manager. Some examples of daily duties include, but not limited to following : Working indoor and outdoor arena. Weeding, spraying for weeds, mowing, planting flowers. Painting (as needed) in buildings, and grounds. Cleaning barns, stalls and grounds of debris. Sanitizing barns / stalls and panels as needed. Setting up barns for shows and for rentals. Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, and lobby area. Making sure that grounds, buildings and equipment are good repair and ready for daily rental use. As well as monitoring grounds and buildings for any damage or misuse. Monitoring tables and chairs and equipment used for rentals and repairing or replacing as needed. Basic repair to equipment. Flex time over to main fairgrounds to assist where needed. All other duties as assigned by fair management.
