About The Position

Must-Have :

• Flexibility to rotate start times
• Moderate sedation experience
• Experience with critical care drips
• Ability to manage diverse patient populations

Description :

Provide emergency care to the community.

The facility is a non-trauma center that is Stemi / Stroke ready.

Cath lab support is available depending on the day of the week and hours.

The Emergency Department has 24 beds and does not have a separate fast track area.

Patients are intermixed within the department, and triage is present but generally does not include travelers in triage roles.

The ESI rating system is used for triage purposes.

Patients in the Emergency Department may include a wide variety of cases, from respiratory viruses to traumatic injuries.

There is an average treatment of 60-80 patients in the Emergency Department per 24 hours.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 4-5, adjusted according to staffing and patient acuity.

Common diagnoses include minor injuries, heart attacks, and motor vehicle accidents, encompassing patients from neonates to geriatrics.

Nurses are expected to perform lumbar punctures and have flexibility in patient management based on fluctuating circumstances.

Provider coverage in the Emergency Department varies based on patient load, with one physician onsite during the day and mid-level support during evening hours.

A house supervisor is available 24 / 7.

Emergency Department techs handle various tasks, including EKGs, blood draws, and assisting with wound care.

Respiratory therapists are available as needed, managing equipment while nurses can perform breathing treatments.

Nurses are required to monitor patients and interpret telemetry readings.

Imaging services, including X-ray and CT, are readily accessible.

Blood draws may be performed by both techs and nurses.

Shifts are available in 12-hour increments, with variations for both nursing and tech positions.

Weekend work is required on an every-other basis or as needed.

Holiday shifts will rotate with core staff.

There is no call or standby requirement.

Traveling nurses may float to different departments, as needed.

Professional scrubs in solid colors are required.

New employees will receive department-specific orientation.
