Structural Steel Estimating Assistant

Overview

Reports to : Estimating Manager. Hourly : $23.00 – $27.00. Department : Estimating. Location : Vancouver.

JOB SUMMARY :

Provides support to the estimating department, responsible for preparing estimates as needed for projects, specifications, proposals, and other documentation.

Responsibilities

• Creates and send out Request for Quotes to subcontractors / vendors.
• Performs data entry for accurate pricing.
• Prepares new projects for software transfer.
• Composes and types reports and routine correspondence.
• Files correspondence and other records.
• Inputs information into computer to maintain files and job progress reports.
• Distributes appropriate documents to other departments as instructed.
• Compiles and types statistical reports.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, occasionally stand and walk, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to talk or hear. Seldom lift and / or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

General office and constant exposure to computer display. Occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility.
