Purpose

The Site Security Manager is responsible for safeguarding Divergent's people, facilities, assets and reputation through the leadership of comprehensive physical security operations at Divergent's Headquarters in Torrance, California. This role ensures the safety, readiness, and regulatory compliance of Divergent's high-value manufacturing and R&D environment, supporting mission-critical operations across aerospace, defense, and mobility sectors.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Site Security Manager oversees the external security vendor responsible for manned guarding, front desk operations, internal patrols, and perimeter checks. The role also owns the configuration, maintenance, and performance of electronic security systems, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection as well as partners with Facilities, Legal, People Operations, and Information Security to deliver an integrated, high-resilience site protection program.

The role combines hands-on operational oversight with strategic planning, driving a culture of protection, vigilance, and continuous improvement throughout Divergent's Torrance HQ campus. The Site Security Manager will play a key role in advancing the maturity of Divergent's physical security posture - balancing practicality with persistence to elevate readiness, resilience, and regulatory alignment across the organization.

The Role

Operational & Systems Security Management

  • Manage daily site security operations across Divergent's Torrance HQ.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot Access Control Systems (ACS) and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), ensuring optimal performance and compliance.
  • Oversee integration and functionality of CCTV, intercom, and fire alarm systems in coordination with Facilities.
  • Maintain hardware / software documentation, access logs, and alarm configurations.
  • Partner with IT and Facilities on networked security systems (TCP / IP and RF communications).
  • Support or oversee locksmithing functions, including combination changes, high-security lock installations, and master key system administration.
  • Manages all aspects of Divergent's Facilities Access Policy, including registration and approval of visitors

Vendor Oversight & Service Performance

  • Oversee the external security vendor responsible for manned front desk operations, internal and perimeter patrols, and visitor control.
  • Evaluate service quality, coverage, and professionalism through regular audits and performance reviews.
  • Ensure guard force training, post orders, and emergency procedures are current and enforced.
  • Manage procurement, maintenance, and service contracts related to physical security infrastructure.
  • Risk Management & Compliance

  • Conduct annual and ad hoc Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessments focused on physical site security.
  • Maintain the Site Security Plan, including emergency and access protocols, post orders, and audit documentation.
  • Lead site readiness for government and customer security inspections; proactively identify and resolve deficiencies.
  • Ensure adherence to all physical security standards for controlled facilities, including export control laws (e.g., ITAR), and, where applicable, UL 2050 and ICD 705 SCIF guidelines.
  • Incident Management & Reporting

  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, and root-cause analysis for all site security events.
  • Manage alarm and system failure response, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Legal and People Ops for employee-related security matters and post-incident reviews.
  • Partner with Legal for export control and NISPOM related investigations.
  • Maintain incident logs, trend analysis, and generate periodic reports for leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Facilities : Align building systems and physical layouts with security needs.
  • Legal : Ensures compliance in investigations and regulatory responses.
  • People Operations : Collaborates on personnel actions, access controls, and policy alignment.
  • Information Security : Collaborate to safeguard physical access to critical IT infrastructure and support alignment between physical and cyber security protocols.
  • Executive : Represents Site Security in executive briefings, inspections, and emergency response exercises.
  • Training & Awareness

  • Design and ensure delivery of security and emergency response training to all site personnel.
  • Conduct system operation and awareness briefings for key staff and contractors.
  • Promote a proactive security culture through communication, drills, and simulations.
  • Drive "protection culture" as part of the Divergent Performance Culture.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Ability to lawfully access information and technology that is subject to US export controls
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Security, Criminal Justice, or related field; or equivalent experience (progressive physical security experience).
  • 5+ years of experience managing physical security operations in a high-security or defense environment, including some people management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive progressive improvement in site security operations and readiness.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining Access Control, CCTV, IDS, and Fire Alarm systems.
  • Working knowledge of networked systems, TCP / IP, RF communications, and database administration.
  • Strong vendor and contract management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, and security management software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills; proven ability to lead investigations and incident response.
  • Familiarity with classified program site security requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret or Top-Secret Clearance.
  • PSP, CPP, or other professional security certification.
  • Experience supporting government inspections and classified facility programs.
  • Knowledge of UL 2050, ICD 705 SCIF construction standards, and federal physical security compliance frameworks.
  • Basic knowledge of fire alarm configuration and emergency communication systems.
  • 2+ years of database management experience.
  • Strong technical aptitude with security hardware / software installation and configuration.
  • Work Environment

  • This position is based in Torrance, CA, with flexibility for periodic remote work as project needs allow.
  • This role operates in a hybrid office and advanced manufacturing environment. While much of the work involves program design, stakeholder collaboration, and systems management, significant time will be spent on the factory floor to observe workflows, partner with production teams, and embed learning into real-world operations.
  • Work may involve exposure to dust, airborne particulates, and materials that present combustion risk. Proper use of company-issued uniforms and PPE (including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respirators) is required when in production areas. The environment includes noise, vibration, and hot surfaces typical of an active manufacturing facility.
  • This is a full-time, exempt position. Occasional extended hours, weekends, or travel may be required to meet program milestones or support production schedules.
  • Pay Range

    $114,320 - $157,200 USD
