Audio Mechanical Design Engineer

Seattle, WA or Sunnyvale, CA | $140K - $175K | Cutting-Edge AR / VR Hardware

Responsibilities

  • Design the future of sound : Lead the design of complex micro-mechanical structures for advanced speaker modules, using techniques like insert molding and acoustic mesh integration.
  • Prototype + perfect : Rapidly build, test, and refine concepts, using data-driven validation to push the limits of audio performance.
  • Drive products from concept to scale : Partner with cross-functional teams from early design through high-volume manufacturing, ensuring products meet the highest standards.
  • Collaborate globally : Work directly with international partners and world-class manufacturers to bring designs to life. (Some travel, ~15%)
  • Innovate continuously : Stay ahead of the curve in audio and mechanical engineering, exploring new technologies and materials.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 4+ years in mechanical product design & development, ideally in micro-speaker systems for consumer electronics.
  • Strong background in DFM / DFA, tolerance analysis, and geometric tolerancing.
  • Proficiency in 2D / 3D CAD and knowledge of plastics, metals, adhesives, and glass.
  • Hands-on experience with high-volume manufacturing processes like injection molding, machining, and stamping.
  • Bonus Points

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with NX CAD .
  • Familiarity with cosmetic surface treatments & collaboration with industrial design teams.
  • Previous experience working with overseas vendors.
