Anesthesiologist

Staff Anesthesiologists are active members of the Medical Staff. Licensed qualified physicians who have successfully completed an anesthesiology program approved by the American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of Osteopathy and accepted by the state of Kentucky for licensure.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Unless otherwise designated, the Senior Staff Anesthesiologist will assume the duties and responsibilities of the Medical Director of the Anesthesia Department in his / her absence.
• As an Anesthesia Team Member, be conscious of compliance with J.C.A.H.O. standards for anesthesia and other accrediting / licensing agencies.
• Represent the Anesthesia Service on Medical Staff and Hospital Committee Appointments, reporting activities to the Medical Director or the Anesthesia Department.
• Participate in review / revision of anesthesia policies and provide input for nursing / medical staff policies as requested.
• Participate in the recruitment and retention of anesthesia personnel as indicated.
• Assist in creating a positive work environment and encourage continuing education and competency of all members of the department through professional discussions and guidance.
• Be a professional resource for C.R.N.A.'s, providing guidance and medical supervision as indicated and / or requested.
• Participate in the morbidity / mortality reviews, incident reports, risk management referrals, and patient complaints.
• Participate in a rotational “on-call” as designated by the Medical Director of the Anesthesia Department.
• Provide for patient care activities to include but not limited to : preoperative medical evaluations and consultations, labor epidurals and intrathecal, MAC for cardioversions, etc. throughout the hospital, Pain Management consultations and treatments, Daily Operative Room Assignment as designated by the Medical Director of the Department of Anesthesia, floating supervisor for Anesthesia activiti9es within the surgical suite, participate in giving breaks and lunch relief to anesthesia personnel involved in the anesthesia administration.

Education :

Board Certification by American Board of Anesthesiology or the American Board of Osteopathy.

Experience :

Minimum of two years management experience.

Licensure / Certification :

MD, current Medical License by Kentucky Board of Licensure.
