Position Description :
Seneca Resources is seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Architect to support a large-scale enterprise transformation initiative within a major federal environment. The ideal candidate is a proven expert in AWS cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native design, with the ability to lead the modernization of complex IT ecosystems.
In this role, you'll guide technical teams, shape cloud strategy, and design scalable, secure, and cost-effective AWS-based solutions. You'll work closely with engineering, DevOps, and business stakeholders to implement microservices, CI / CD pipelines, and hybrid integrations that deliver measurable performance improvements and operational efficiency.
Required Skills / Education :
Technical Expertise
Active AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate or Professional certification required.
Proven hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying enterprise-scale AWS solutions (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, EKS, VPC, CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.).
Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, compute, and storage architecture.
Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Chef, or Puppet.
Strong scripting or programming skills in Python, PowerShell, or Ruby.
Solid understanding of CI / CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
Familiarity with compliance and risk management standards such as SOX, PCI, or FedRAMP.
Experience integrating AWS with other enterprise systems (Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, IBM, Linux, etc.).
Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and performance tuning.
Architecture & Leadership
Proven experience creating enterprise architecture deliverables, including solution blueprints, reference architectures, and cost models.
Ability to define cloud adoption strategies, governance models, and design standards.
Experience leading large-scale cloud migrations or hybrid modernization projects.
Demonstrated success driving cultural and technical change toward agile and cloud-native practices.
Generative AI & Modern Engineering
Working knowledge of Generative AI concepts and prompt engineering for automation or analytics use cases.
Ability to apply design patterns for scalable, maintainable software architecture.
Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and staying ahead of emerging technologies.
Communication & Collaboration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for both technical and executive stakeholders.
Skilled in creating clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams (Visio, Draw.io), and presentations (PowerPoint).
Proficient in creating dashboards, reports, and data visualizations (Excel, Power BI).
Ability to mentor teams and foster collaboration across multi-functional groups.
Key Responsibilities :
Advise IT and business stakeholders on cloud architecture best practices, focusing on AWS-based microservices and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
Design, document, and deliver end-to-end cloud solutions including bill of materials, design parameters, and cost estimates.
Prepare and present technical proposals, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
Develop and enforce cloud governance, policies, standards, and reference architectures.
Research and evaluate emerging cloud and AI technologies to recommend innovative, cost-effective solutions.
Lead cross-functional efforts to improve cloud performance, automation, and security posture.
Act as a technical escalation point and SWAT team member for critical architecture or performance issues.
Provide mentorship and training to teams adopting AWS and modern DevOps practices.
