Description :

The position is for a Tele Intermediate Registered Nurse in a stepdown unit.

The unit has 26 beds and supports a ratio of 1 : 4 or 1 : 5 nurses to patients.

Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure, COVID pneumonia, atrial fibrillation with rapid ventricular response, tachy / brady syndrome, and syncope.

Nurses will monitor patients with central telemetry.

The unit does not manage ventilators, but accommodates Bipap, Cpap, and HF / Vapotherm.

The hospitalist is available from 7 AM to 5 PM, followed by an advanced practice nurse in-house with e-hospitalist support.

Pharmacy support is available 24 / 7.

Nurses are not responsible for mixing medications.

Typical shift hours are from 7 PM to 7 : 30 AM.

While block scheduling is not possible, efforts will be made to accommodate consecutive night shifts.

Traveling staff may be required to float and will maintain the same patient-to-nurse ratio on their assigned unit.

Charting is conducted using an electronic medical record system.

Weekend work is required every other weekend.

Staff will also have holiday responsibilities every other holiday.

Nurses may wear their own scrubs, as no specific scrub color is designated.

The unit emphasizes a collaborative working environment within the team.

Each nurse is expected to take on patient responsibilities even while serving as charge nurse.

Support staff ratios include one tech for every nine patients.
