Overview

Bassett Healthcare Network, a progressive, academic health system in central New York and a major teaching affiliate of Columbia University, is seeking a comprehensive ophthalmologist. Visa sponsorship available.

The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school‑based health centers, and health partners in related fields.

The Cooperstown area is a vibrant, diverse, and sophisticated upstate community set in a bucolic lake‑front village affording four seasons of culture and outdoor activity.

Job Description & Responsibilities

• Join an established group of 5 ophthalmologists and 3 optometrists.
• Provide comprehensive eye care as a general ophthalmologist.
• Work alongside specialty colleagues in pediatric, retina, and glaucoma departments.
• Support staff includes ophthalmic technicians, LPNs, and RNs.
• On‑call duty every 5th weekend from Cooperstown; rarely busy.
• Attend outreach clinics, limited to one location each.
• Referral patterns to tertiary care ophthalmologists are well established.
