FISA-OPA has a vacancy for the Mainframe Systems Programmer. We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated professional with extensive hands-on experience in IBM DB2. The ideal candidate must be able to hit the ground running, bringing deep technical expertise and practical knowledge to support, maintain, and enhance our DB2 environments.
The consultant will serve as a Mainframe z / OS DB2 Systems Programmer, responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and serviceability of the DB2 subsystem. This role includes providing advanced technical support and guidance for the installation, upgrade, diagnosis, and performance tuning of DB2 and related OEM products.
Primary responsibilities will include :
Supporting and maintaining DB2 subsystems in a z / OS environmentPerforming DB2 software installs, upgrades, and maintenanceDiagnosing and resolving complex DB2 and related product issuesTuning DB2 for optimal performance and resource utilizationProviding technical leadership and documentation for DB2 best practicesUtilizing a strong knowledge of SMP / E and its role in the installation processConducting ongoing maintenance (installing, patching, upgrading, administering, etc.) of the mainframez / OS operating system, accompanying storage systems, systems software products (e.g., database,
transaction server, security management, scheduling, report distribution, etc.), and UNIX Systems Services.
The candidate is required to provide Production off-hour coverage and support periodic weekendimplementations.
Experience / Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in DB2 Database system recovery.Working knowledge of DB2.Must have experience with VTAM and TCP / IP.A minimum of 10 years of experience working with z / OS, JES2, SMP / E, TSO, IOCP / HCD, basic IBM utilities (IDCAMS, IEFBR14, etc.), program product installations, working knowledge of the IBM virtual tape system, and Unix System Services.Working knowledge of CICS, IMS, and AFP printing is a plus.Experience in using monitoring tools such as OMEGAMONWorking with an enterprise-wide, large-scale implementationExcellent communication skills (Oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are requiredThe candidate must have experience with mainframe CPU installs as a systems programmer ConsultantEducation : Bachelor's degree or 10 + years of experience in relevant technical field is required.
