Infection Control Manager
Provides leadership in the development of programs and policies to reduce nosocomial infections. Manages the day-to-day operations of the hospital control program, staff and financial affairs / budget of the department. Implements policies, evaluates clinical systems and equipment to detect, and prevent infection and spread of contagious disease. Collaborates with senior management, department chairs, nurse managers, department managers and others to promote and support an organizational emphasis on continuous improvement in infection control. Provides information and guidance to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. This position works under the direction of the Hospital Epidemiologist.
Major Responsibilities include : developing an analytical framework for monitoring infections, preventing, investigating, and controlling infections, directing surveillance activities, coordinating submission and presentation of reports, providing information and guidance to ensure compliance with requirements, acting as a consultant to clinical services, coordinating endemic and epidemic prevention and control programs, overseeing development and conduct of regular in-service training sessions, developing and maintaining hospital-wide infection control policies and procedures, directing and supervising assigned personnel, developing and recommending budgets, coordinating the assignment of tasks, providing effective direction, guidance, and leadership over the staff, encouraging and supporting diverse views, integrating diversity into departmental objectives, participating in performance improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, ensuring department complies with hospital policies, ensuring adequate equipment and supplies, developing and maintaining established departmental policies, ensuring compliance to all health and safety regulations.
Position Qualifications include : bachelor's degree in nursing preferred, valid RN license by the state of Massachusetts, minimum of five years experience with an active infection control program, certification in infection control required, thorough working knowledge of hospital epidemiology and prevention and control of nonsocomial infections, proficiency in use of a variety of computerized software products.
