Overview

Korber is pioneering cutting-edge sorting technology and solutions that shape the future of mail and parcel automation. We are seeking a results-driven Senior Manager of Controls Engineering to oversee the team responsible for executing controls design, development, and implementation for warehouse automation projects. This role focuses on managing PLC, HMI, and system integration deliverables, coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure on-time, high-quality solutions that meet customer and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in controls engineering and a proven ability to lead cross-functional technical teams through the full project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • You will lead controls engineering execution through final design, commissioning, and customer handoff.
  • You will oversee development of PLC programs, HMI interfaces, control panel layouts, and network architectures.
  • You will coordinate with project management, mechanical, electrical, and field service teams to ensure technical alignment.
  • You will manage third-party vendors and partners to meet quality, timeline, and specification requirements.
  • You will enforce design standards, documentation protocols, and system validation processes.
  • You will identify and mitigate technical risks across software, hardware, and system integration.
  • You will develop and maintain engineering schedules in alignment with project milestones.
  • You will support resource planning by assessing team capacity and skill needs.
  • You will act as the primary escalation point for complex integration issues during commissioning and startup.
  • You will mentor and develop the controls engineering team while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • You have a bachelor's degree in electrical, Controls, or Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • You have 5–7+ years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling, or capital equipment industries.
  • You have 3–5+ years in controls engineering leadership or technical project management roles.
  • You are experienced supervising cross-functional engineering teams and coordinating with external integrators or vendors.
  • You have familiarity with control system design tools, programming environments (Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.), and engineering documentation platforms.
  • You are experienced leading cross-functional engineering teams and managing external design, build partners including 3rd party and / or offshore resources.
  • You have working knowledge of safety, compliance, and industry standards (UL, CE, NEC, NFPA, etc.).
  • You are willing and able to travel up to 30%.
