KPMG is currently seeking an Associate to join our State & Local Tax practice.
Responsibilities :
- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues (income / franchise, sales / use, excise and property tax) including compliance, consulting, planning and controversies
- Assist clients with business tax planning transactions and mergers and acquisitions including identifying and developing state and local tax issues and savings opportunities that arise from legal entity changes / transactions and in designing specific plans to help a business address its state and local tax matters
- Research and draft state and local tax technical memoranda
- Assist with M&A transactions involving acquisitions and dispositions of equity interests (e.g., corporate stock, LLC membership interests, etc.) and / or business assets
- Supervising the work of shared services team members and interns; assist in handling notices including coordination of shared resources
- Analyze, prepare and review tax workpapers and returns, estimated payments and extensions; stay current on state and local tax legislative, judicial and administrative developments
- Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI and more
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and sustain excellent client relationships
Qualifications :
Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees / majors in the past 12 months : Bachelors and / or Masters in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program from an accredited college or universityPreferred : Degrees and / or areas of study : Accounting and TaxationMust be pursuing the state-specific education requirements to be a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position, with completion of required academic credits prior to the start date for this positionPreferred GPA of 3.0 or aboveStrong tax research skillsDemonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills and ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and OutlookExcellent communication, time management and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high quality workAbility to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BIMust reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportationAbility to travel and / or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short noticeMust be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future
