Summary

Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Sr. Process Development Engineer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Associate Integrated Product Team Lead - GNC, the Sr. Process Development Engineer will specialize in creating, developing, and implementing critical processes to fabricate, build, calibrate, and test newly created or existing GNC space products. Through rigorous research and planning, design processes will optimize product cost reductions and increase the total output. The role requires teamwork across different segments of the business including but not limited to Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Test Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Production. This position will drive initial critical process development and continuous process improvement through the creation of improved processes for new and existing modules.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Influence the product design to enable automated build and test processing
  • Lead the development of engineering and testing processes, as well as continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Confirm the quality of both products and processes by establishing the standards that must be met and develop various testing methods to confirm it.
  • Assist in the development of test solutions to effectively evaluate and characterize the workmanship and performance of new and existing spacecraft modules and sensors within the scope of the GNC Sensors Module Group.
  • Work with Stakeholders to clearly define and evaluate module and sensor performance requirements for internal build programs.
  • Work with Integrated Product Teams to define module and sensor minimum performance requirements for commercial product lines.
  • Support testing activities as required on assigned programs. Responsibilities include updates to required documentation, providing input and oversight on test execution, and assistance in troubleshooting test setups, module anomalies, and proper data collection and storage.
  • Analyze and consolidate test data, develop and publish test reports, and conduct reviews for identified stakeholders within the organization.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • U.S. or M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent technical degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in process engineering, production, testing, qualifying, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with PCBA hardware or sub-system.
  • Understanding of electrical test equipment, testing method, data acquisition, and instrumentation and controls.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and deliver to program timelines.
  • U.S. Person or lawful permanent resident to comply with U.S. government space technology export regulations.
  • Additional Differentiators

  • Working knowledge of both optical mechanical systems, electrical schematics, and electrical PCB assemblies and components.
  • Understanding of environmental testing such as vibration, shock and thermal cycle testing including TVAC.
  • Ability to evaluate PCBA anomalies and failures and create corrective action plans.
  • Ability to evaluate mechanical anomalies and failures and create and implement corrective action plans.
  • Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.     Salary Range

    $115,000—$150,000 USD

    Physical Demands

    An employee must meet the physical demands described to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
