Position Highlights : Sign on Bonus : New Grad $15,000, 1 year experience $20,000 Location : Arlington Heights, IL Full Time - 40 hours / week Hours : 6 : 30am - 5 : 00pm or 7 : 00 am - 5 : 30pm, 4 Days a week 6 - 7 Call Shifts per Month Required Travel : No A Brief Overview : In the dual role as an Interventional Procedures / Cardiac Cath Technologist you will be a crucial member of our Interventional procedures team, specializing in performing intricate interventional procedures and is responsible for the operation of special radiographic equipment . Your expertise in operating advanced imaging equipment and assisting interventional radiologists will be instrumental in delivering high-quality patient care. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring procedural efficiency, patient safety, and the achievement of optimal clinical outcomes. What you will do : IR Experience : Assist interventional radiologists in performing a variety of interventional procedures, including angiography, embolization, biopsies, and drainage procedures. Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process, and addressing their concerns. Ensure a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols during procedures. Operate and maintain advanced imaging equipment, including fluoroscopy, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems, to obtain real-time images during procedures. Adjust equipment settings to optimize image quality and patient safety. Monitor patients' vital signs and condition throughout procedures, reporting any changes to the interventional radiologist. Administer contrast agents as needed and document their use accurately. Maintain thorough and accurate procedural documentation, including patient records, equipment logs, and radiation exposure records. Ensure compliance with regulatory and departmental documentation requirements. Adhere to radiation safety protocols, minimizing radiation exposure to patients, staff, and self. Participate in quality assurance activities to maintain high procedural standards and image quality. - Be prepared to respond to emergency situations during procedures, providing life-saving measures as necessary. Familiarity with emergency equipment and protocols is essential. Collaborate closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless patient care. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure procedural efficiency. Stay current with advances in interventional radiology technology and techniques through ongoing education and training. Assist in the training of new technologists and support staff. Cardiac Cath Experience : Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to care for adult and geriatric patients based on the developmental stages of the patient. Instructs and educates patient and family regarding procedures performed in a comprehensive manner, considering the developmental needs of the patient. Assists nurse and physician in patient assessment and monitoring. Assists nurses preparing outpatients for procedures. Performs daily assignments including scrubbing, circulating, recording hemodynamics, and administering post procedural care per policies. Monitors radiographic equipment during invasive and related cardiac procedures. Burns compact disc relative to the procedure being performed. Checks to make sure that all patient procedure transfer over to archiving system for permanent storage. May determine LV function from the LV angiogram acquired during digital imaging. May perform stenosis analysis on digital images. Attends all mandatory inservice education programs as required by area of service Transports patients to and from the Cath Lab as needed. May perform quality control; maintains equipment according to established procedures and safety policies. Utilizes supplies and equipment in the provision of patient care in a manner that assures quality, cost effective patient care. Maintains responsibility for transport and inventory management of contrast media. Oversees the CD library. May assume on-call status to provide patient care in the lab during emergency procedures. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards, policies and procedures. What you will need : Associates Degree Radiologic Technology Required 2 Years experience in interventional radiology required. ARRT - Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Required Cardiac-Interventional Technology (CV) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) AHA Heartsaver CPR - American Heart Association (AHA) Required Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) Required EKG and hemodynamic monitoring competency required; ACLS certification is desirable.
