About the Role

We are seeking an editor with a research background in energy materials or catalysis, with openness to candidates from all areas of materials science. The successful candidate will primarily support Nature Materials and may collaborate with other Nature Portfolio journals as needed. Responsibilities and journal assignments may evolve over time in response to portfolio needs.

This is a permanent position within Nature Portfolio. The role is based in one of the following locations : New York, Jersey City, Shanghai or Beijing. The position is offered on a permanent basis and the start date is as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

• Handle original research papers and work with editor teams on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection and overseeing peer review.
• Make well-reasoned editorial decisions on submitted manuscripts with expert input.
• Contribute to content and strategy for Nature Materials and other Nature Portfolio journals as needed.
• Commission and edit content such as Reviews, Perspectives, Comments, or write editorials.
• liaise with editors at other journals in the Nature family and with experts in the international scientific community.
• Attend conferences and visit research institutions.

Benefits and Salary

US Annualized Base Salary Range : Associate Editor : $80,000; Senior Editor : $95,000. Salary offers vary by experience, education and skills. The US salary range may differ from other countries’ ranges when converted to local currency.
