Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring NM or compact licensure, BLS and PALS, and critical care procedure experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of a Level I trauma and teaching children's hospital
  • Patient ratio is 1 : 2 in the PICU
  • Treats patients with diagnoses including respiratory distress / failure, renal failure, trauma, heme / onc, multi-system organ failure, and suicide attempts
  • CRRT, ECMO, and vent experience required with inotropic drips
  • Rotating 12-hour shifts; must be able to work both day and night shifts during the contract though not within the same 4-week period
  • Weekend requirement is 4 shifts per schedule for day shift and 4–5 for night shift (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights are considered weekends)
  • Floating required to NICU; may provide resource support in Pediatric ED without patient assignments
  • Uses Cerner for charting; prior experience with Cerner is advantageous
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • No local candidates accepted within a 75-mile radius
  • Must perform CRRT, ECMO, ventilator management, and administer inotropic drips
  • Expected to float within pediatric scope as needed, including to NICU and as a resource in Pediatric ED
  • Scrub color is black and must be provided by the nurse
  • Holiday time off limited to one holiday bundle; more than 7 days of RTO requires approval
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Travelers may work up to 12 consecutive months before a break is required
  • Orientation includes required module completion and compliance training
  • Perm employees may return as travelers if separated for 12 months or more

  • Active RN license in NM or compact state (license may be pending at time of consideration)
  • Minimum 1.5 years of PICU nursing experience required
  • Certifications required : BLS and PALS
  • Personal transportation required
  • COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
  • Submission of 2 recent professional supervisor references required
  • Non-local Driver’s License or transportation statement required
  • Compliance with pre-employment drug screening and P / F testing
