Assistant Director Of Capital Outlay

The University of Mary Washington is seeking an Assistant Director of Capital Outlay. The Assistant Director is responsible for coordination of planning, design, and construction of agency capital outlay program of multiple projects including Architect / Engineer selection process, plan and specification review, construction inspection, and acceptance. Assists in developing six-year capital outlay plan projects. Also responsible for similar non-capital projects. Responsible for the administration of open-end service contracts. Responsible for managing financial and property records including building and occupancy permits. This position is designated essential in accordance with DHRM Policy 1.35.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities / Competencies / Qualifications :

• Broad knowledge and experience in institutional building design and construction practices and procedures.
• Must understand design process including program development, and preparation of plans and specifications.
• Knowledge of project management processes.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Must demonstrate ability to plan and direct major construction and renovation projects, and capable of solving complex problems.
