Lead Web Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking a smart individual with a mind for both practical, big-picture thinking and careful attentiveness to technical details who will serve in the key role of Lead Web Developer in our team. The ideal candidate for this role will be a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience developing web-based software for midsize-to-large organizations, and who is inspired by the challenge of bringing quality solutions to small businesses. This role requires a heart to train and advise fellow team members in skillfully solving problems, a respect for real-world budgetary constraints, the ability to think long-term rather than short-term, and the insight to discern what the customer truly needs.

The candidate should have a proven track record of designing practical web applications to solve real-world problems, along with mentoring experience, guiding development teams in building, testing, and delivering applications on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Guide and mentor team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering professional growth.
• Project Oversight and Delivery: Manage web development projects, ensuring timely delivery, scope adherence, and quality standards.
• Collaboration with Stakeholders: Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, aligning development with customer needs and expectations.
• Code Quality and Best Practices: Enforce best practices in code quality, testing, version control, and efficient development workflows.
• Contributing to System Design and Architecture: Collaborate with the Lead Architect on system design, ensuring alignment between web development and architecture.

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in web development, including designing and supporting full-stack web applications.
• Strong database expertise, SQLqueries and optimization, data normalization, NoSQL databases.
• Linux / Unix server administration and scripting experience. Administration and deployment of applications in Kubernetes clusters is a plus.
• Experience working in cloud platforms, particularly AWS, and exposure to BaaS, PaaS, and IaaS solutions.
• Understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, low-code/no-code platforms, IoT, and blockchain.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organization skills.
• Strong in-person and written communication skills, with a proven track record of managing client relationships and leading technical teams.

Workplace Structure

• Full-time position with hybrid and remote options:
• Candidates within 90 minutes of the South Windsor, CT office will be expected to work on-site two days per week.
