Appointment Scheduler / Primary Care (Full Time)

SouthCoast Is Looking for a Full-Time Appointment Scheduler for our Chatham Parkway Office
Join our dedicated primary care team as an Appointment Scheduler - a key member of our front office responsible for ensuring a positive first impression for every patient. This position requires exceptional communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a high volume of calls with patience and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments efficiently and accurately.
- Manage incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, providing courteous and professional assistance.
- Book, confirm, and reschedule appointments; relay messages to providers and staff as needed.
- Arrange interpreter or translation services when required and document accordingly.
- Collect and verify patient demographic information, updating records in the scheduling system.
- Maintain up-to-date provider schedules to ensure proper patient placement and workflow.
- Answer inquiries regarding appointments, services, and scheduling procedures.
- Update the master schedule daily with cancellations or additions and notify providers or nurses as appropriate.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a medical office or imaging department preferred.Previous switchboard or call center experience strongly preferred.Strong verbal communication and customer service skills.Ability to communicate clearly, remain professional under pressure, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency with word processing and computer-based scheduling systems.Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.Education / Experience : High School Diploma. At least one year work experience in a medical office / Imaging department setting. Prefer prior switchboard operations experience. Knowledge of medical terminology desired. Word processing and computer experience.
