Middle School SPED Teacher Job Duties
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for middle school students with disabilities
Provide specialized instruction designed to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
Collaborate with general education teachers, families, and support staff to promote student success
Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction and interventions as needed
Support students transition skills as they prepare for high school
Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional recommendations
Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
Federal and State Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or related field
Current Minnesota teaching license with Special Education endorsement required
Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA, and other applicable education laws
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Fingerprinting and background clearance as required by Minnesota school districts
